Guidance - Startup Housing in the Municipality of Aalborg

Startup Housing ensures that you as a student, who starts your studies in the Municipality of Aalborg (Aalborg Kommune), will be sure to have accommodation, if you have not found housing yourself. We will make sure that you have a place to stay until you soon find a place to live.

Startup Housing offered temporary accommodation with common kitchen- and bathroom facilities at BBBB in Aalborg, Cabins (Aalborg Hostel). You are expected to search for other accommodation of more lasting character meanwhile.

To be more specific:

• There is no freedom of choice concerning the “Startup Housing-rooms“ (Aalborg Hostel assign the rooms).
• Startup Housing lasts for four months from study start mid-August.
• You are obligated to move to another room if Aalborg Hostel demands it.
• Startup Housing is only for students, living outside the Municipality of Aalborg.

In order to be considered for “Startup Housing-rooms“, there are conditions that need to be fulfilled:

• You are an applicant at Studiebolig Aalborg.
• You must search for private rooms.
• You ought to accept any residential facility or youth accommodation offered by Studiebolig Aalborg before you move into a “Startup Housing-room“.
• If you have applied for Housing Guarantee you have to accept any residential facility or youth accommodation offered by Studiebolig Aalborg.

NB:

If you are offered a residential facility or youth accommodation or a housing under the housing guarantee at a time when you have not been offered a place on an education, a rejection to this housing will not prevent you from applying the Roof over your head scheme.

What to do from here:

• As long as there are vacant private accommodations you must apply for them.
• When there are no vacant private rooms left, it will be posted at studieboligaalborg.dk how you can book at Aalborg Hostel.

After moving into a "Startup Housing-room“ and Studiebolig Aalborg offers:

• Residential facility or youth accommodation from the Housing Guarantee you have to accept this offer. Otherwise the Municipality of Aalborg terminates the agreement concerning the "Startup Housing-room” the same date as the moving-in date for the concerned accommodation.
• A desired residential facility or youth accommodation, the offer must be accepted. Otherwise the Municipality of Aalborg terminates the agreement concerning the "Startup Housing-room“ the same date as the moving-in date for the concerned accommodation. Your application at Studiebolig Aalborg is maintained, though the decline counts as a turn down.
• A non-desired residential facility or youth accommodation, the offer must be accepted if it is within your financial capacity. The financial capacity understood to specific assessment a rent that is similar to the rent, the student would have paid for a residential facility or youth accommodation, as the students through Studiebolig Aalborg applied for. Otherwise the Municipality of Aalborg terminates the agreement concerning the "Startup Housing-room” the same date as the moving-in date for the concerned accommodation. Your application at Studiebolig Aalborg is maintained and the decline does not count as a turn down. You are obliged to continue searching for private accommodations and apply for them.
• You should be aware that the Municipality of Aalborg with one week's notice can terminate Startup Housing, if you don't apply for private accommodation.
